Tue Feb 18 05:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Oman Thrash USA by Seven Wickets in ODI Thriller
**MUSCAT, OMAN** – Oman’s spinners orchestrated a dominant 7-wicket victory over the USA in a thrilling One Day International match today. Veteran left-arm spinner Shakeel Ahmed, playing only his ninth ODI, stole the show with a stunning 4-wicket haul, dismantling the USA batting line-up for a paltry 151.
Ahmed, the only spinner in the Oman team with first-class experience, outshone his teammates, exposing the weaknesses of the American batsmen on a challenging wicket. The USA’s innings was largely propped up by a masterful 80 from 20-year-old Sai Teja Mukkamalla, a knock that showcased remarkable skill and maturity against the turning ball. However, no other American batsman managed to reach double figures apart from Aaron Jones (15). Smit Patel, once again, fell cheaply.
Mukkamalla’s valiant effort, including a half-century, was ultimately insufficient against Oman’s disciplined bowling attack. Samay Shrivastava’s googlies further stifled the lower-order, leaving the USA all out for a meager 151.
In response, Oman captain Jatinder Singh anchored the chase with an unbeaten 82, overcoming a slow start to steer his team to victory. While Harmeet Singh managed to take one wicket, breaking an opening partnership of 50 between Aamir Kaleem and Jatinder, Oman comfortably reached their target with plenty of overs and wickets to spare. Jatinder’s innings, initially cautious, blossomed into a display of elegant strokeplay as he powered Oman to victory.
The match highlighted the stark contrast in spin bowling prowess between the two teams, with Oman’s spinners exploiting the conditions effectively while the USA’s spin attack failed to produce similar results. The win marks a significant triumph for Oman, showcasing their growing strength in ODI cricket.
