**Thrissur, Kerala, February 17, 2025** – Kerala’s Minister for Local Self-Government, M.B. Rajesh, announced the winners of the Swaraj Trophy awards today. The awards, established by the state government, recognize excellence in governance and welfare initiatives by local self-government institutions.

Kollam district secured the top prize for best district panchayat, receiving ₹50 lakh, a certificate, and a memento. Thiruvananthapuram took second place, earning ₹40 lakh and the same accolades. Malappuram’s Perumbadappu block panchayat won first place in its category, while Kodakara (Thrissur) and Neeleswaram (Kasaragod) secured second and third place, respectively. Prize money ranged from ₹50 lakh to ₹30 lakh, along with certificates and mementos.

Guruvayur municipality (Thrissur) was named the best municipality, followed by Wadakkanchery (Thrissur) and Anthur (Kannur). Thiruvananthapuram won the best municipal corporation award.

Individual grama panchayat winners were also announced across all districts, with first and second place winners receiving ₹20 lakh and ₹10 lakh, respectively. Veliyanur (Kottayam) was named the best grama panchayat in the state, winning ₹50 lakh, along with a certificate and memento. Uzhamalackal (Thiruvananthapuram) and Mattathur (Thrissur) secured second and third place, receiving ₹40 lakh and ₹30 lakh respectively.
