Mon Feb 17 09:19:12 UTC 2025: ## YouTube Stars Face NCW Heat Over “India’s Got Latent” Controversy

**NEW DELHI** – The National Commission for Women (NCW) has rescheduled hearings for several prominent YouTubers following their failure to appear for questioning regarding offensive remarks made on the show “India’s Got Latent.” The creators, including Ranveer Allahbadia (“BeerBiceps”) and Samay Raina, were originally summoned on February 22nd but cited various reasons, including safety concerns and pre-planned travel, for their absence.

The NCW has issued new hearing dates for each individual. Allahbadia, who cited death threats, will appear on March 6th. Apoorva Mukhija, who requested a virtual hearing, was denied and also summoned on March 6th. Samay Raina, currently touring the US, will appear on March 11th upon his return, as will Jaspreet Singh, who is also abroad. Ashish Chanchlani, citing illness, has been granted a rescheduled hearing on March 6th. Producer Balraj Ghai, currently out of the country, will also appear on March 11th. Producers Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra failed to respond and are summoned again for March 6th.

The controversy stems from distasteful comments made by Allahbadia about parents and sex during an episode of Raina’s show. The remarks sparked widespread outrage and complaints, leading to police investigations. Both Allahbadia and Raina have issued statements claiming cooperation with authorities and expressing regret. Raina has removed all episodes of “India’s Got Latent” from his channel.

Separately, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has rejected a petition from Raina to postpone a statement recording due to his US trip. He is now required to appear before March 17th. The NCW’s actions underscore the increasing scrutiny faced by online content creators in India and the serious consequences of controversial statements.
