**MUMBAI, INDIA –** BYD has officially launched its Sealion 7 electric SUV in India, starting at ₹48.90 lakh. The vehicle, initially showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, has already garnered over 1,000 bookings in just one month.
Available in Premium and Performance trims, both versions boast an 82.56 kWh battery. The Premium trim offers a single rear-mounted motor generating 309 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and delivering a claimed range of 567 km. The Performance trim, featuring all-wheel drive with dual motors, boasts 523 bhp and 690 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 kmph in just 4.5 seconds, albeit with a slightly reduced range of 542 km.
The Sealion 7 is packed with premium features including a rotating 15.6-inch infotainment screen, Nappa leather seats, 128-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display, and ventilated and heated seats. Safety features are equally impressive, with 11 airbags, driver fatigue monitoring, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. Other amenities include a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, a wireless charger, and a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function.
The Sealion 7 will directly compete with established players like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, BMW iX1, and Volvo EX40 Recharge in the Indian luxury electric SUV market.
