**CHENNAI, INDIA (February 16, 2025)** – A new study published in *Environmental Science & Technology* reveals that carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technologies are significantly more expensive than transitioning to renewable energy sources. The research, encompassing 149 countries, indicates that policies promoting CCS to offset CO2 emissions would cost 9 to 12 times more than a complete shift to wind, solar, and hydroelectric power.
