**Lahore, Pakistan** – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the return of the Men’s Champions Trophy in 2025, after an eight-year hiatus, with a significantly boosted prize pool and a new host: Pakistan. The tournament, to be held every four years, will feature eight of the world’s top One Day International (ODI) teams vying for a $2.24 million grand prize.
This marks the first time Pakistan will host an ICC event since 1996. The total prize money for the 2025 tournament is $6.9 million – a 53% increase from the 2017 edition. Runners-up will receive $1.12 million, with semi-finalists each taking home $560,000. Even participation guarantees each team $125,000, with further financial incentives for each group stage win and final tournament placing.
ICC Chair Jay Shah stated that the tournament “represents a pivotal moment for cricket,” highlighting the return of a prestigious event showcasing the pinnacle of ODI talent. He emphasized the increased prize money reflects the ICC’s commitment to investing in the sport and maintaining the global prestige of its events.
The tournament will see the eight teams divided into two groups of four, with the top two from each group progressing to the semi-finals. The Women’s Champions Trophy will debut in 2027, featuring a T20 format. Additional tickets for matches in the UAE went on sale today.
