**Amritsar, Punjab –** Two men deported from the United States as part of a crackdown on illegal immigration were arrested upon arrival in Amritsar on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Sandeep Singh alias Sunny and Pradeep Singh, both from Rajpura in Patiala district, Punjab, were apprehended at the Amritsar airport after a U.S. military aircraft carrying 116 deported Indians landed at 11:35 pm on Saturday.
The pair are wanted in connection with a murder case registered in Rajpura in June 2023. A police team was dispatched to the airport to take them into custody. The arrest was confirmed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh. This is the second batch of Indians deported by the U.S. since February 5th, with 65 of the 116 deportees originating from Punjab.
