Sun Feb 16 08:11:52 UTC 2025: ## Mumbai Fire Kills Two, Injures Two
**Mumbai, February 16, 2025** – A fire that broke out in an 11-story building in Mumbai’s Masjid Bandar area this morning claimed the lives of two women and left two others suffering from suffocation.
The blaze erupted at 6:11 a.m. in Panna Ali Mansion, originating in a ground-floor common meter box and spreading through electrical wiring in a common passage. Two women on the first floor, Sabila Khatun Shaikh (42) and Sajiya Alam Sheikh (30), sustained injuries and suffered smoke inhalation. They were pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A man on the sixth floor and a woman on the eighth floor also experienced suffocation from the smoke. Karim Shaikh (20) and Shahin Shaikh (22) were taken to J J Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 6:31 a.m. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
