Sun Feb 16 10:50:00 UTC 2025: **Indiana Faces Weekend Winter Weather Blast, Arctic Plunge to Follow**

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Indiana experienced a wintry mix this weekend, with light snow accumulating across the northern half of the state (1-3 inches in some areas) overnight Saturday and Sunday morning. Southern areas saw rain showers. Temperatures reached the upper 30s to mid-40s Sunday afternoon before another weather system moved in Sunday evening. This brought widespread rain, transitioning to snow overnight as temperatures dropped below freezing.

Light snow accumulation (1-2 inches, up to 1 inch south of I-70) continued into Sunday morning, with strong northwest winds (gusts up to 40 mph) persisting into the afternoon.

The snow tapered off Sunday evening, giving way to clear skies and an arctic air mass. Temperatures plummeted to single digits overnight Sunday into Monday, with wind chills as low as -5 degrees. This frigid air is expected to linger throughout the week, with highs in the teens – significantly below the typical low 40s for this time of year. Another light snowfall is possible Tuesday night into Thursday.
