Mumbai, India – The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is set to commence on March 21st and conclude on May 25th, featuring 74 matches across ten teams. However, the official schedule release, initially expected this week, has been postponed until next week.
The opening match will see Royal Challengers Bangalore facing Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Other notable early fixtures include Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Rajasthan Royals and the highly anticipated clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk on March 23rd.
This season will see some venue changes, with Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals playing all their home matches away from their usual grounds. Delhi Capitals will play two games in Vizag, while the Rajasthan Royals’ alternative venue is yet to be announced. Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad will host the Eliminator and Qualifier 1, with the final at Eden Gardens.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also finalized new player regulations for the 2025-2027 seasons following a meeting with franchise owners. Details of these regulations are expected to be released separately.
