Thu Feb 13 12:02:50 UTC 2025: ## Erdogan Urges Dialogue on Kashmir During Pakistan Visit

**Islamabad, February 13, 2025** – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a two-day visit to Pakistan, reiterated his call for a resolution to the Kashmir issue through dialogue between India and Pakistan, taking into account the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He made the statement following one-on-one and delegation-level talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The visit, marked by the signing of 24 agreements and a Memorandum of Understanding across various sectors, showcased the strengthening of bilateral ties between Turkey and Pakistan. Erdogan emphasized the need to address the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions. He also expressed Turkey’s continued solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Prime Minister Sharif welcomed Erdogan’s visit, highlighting the strong brotherly relations between the two nations and thanking Turkey for its support during times of crisis, including recent earthquakes and floods. The visit included a formal welcome ceremony with a guard of honor and a flypast by F-16 fighter jets. Erdogan also met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff.

India maintains that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of the country, a stance that has remained unchanged since the revocation of Article 370 in 2019, an action that significantly strained relations between India and Pakistan. Erdogan’s comments are likely to further fuel the ongoing diplomatic tension between the two South Asian nations.
