**Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh:** An 18-year-old engineering student, Aditi Mishra, died by suicide on Wednesday, February 12th, after failing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The tragic incident occurred at her room in Satyadeep Girls Hostel in Gorakhpur, where she was staying while preparing for the exam at Momentum Coaching Center.
According to police, Aditi was found hanging in her room by her roommate. A suicide note was discovered expressing remorse and asking for her parents’ forgiveness. The note also contained a request that her family not cry and that they take care of her younger sibling, “Choti,” who she hoped would fulfill their dreams.
Aditi’s parents, residents of Mishraulia village in Sant Kabir Nagar district, have been informed. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. Superintendent of Police (City), Abhinav Tyagi, stated that the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination.
The incident highlights the immense pressure faced by students preparing for competitive exams like JEE. Experts emphasize the need for greater mental health support for students during these stressful periods.
