**Chennai, February 13, 2025** – A 15-year-old boy was apprehended by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Chennai for attempting to sabotage train service. The incident occurred near Thiruvottriyur Railway Station on Saturday evening when the boy placed stones on the railway track and removed a fishplate, a crucial component connecting the rails.
The act was discovered by railway staff investigating a signal malfunction. The timely discovery prevented a potential accident. CCTV footage helped GRP officers identify and apprehend the boy.
He was questioned and admitted to acting playfully, unaware of the serious consequences of his actions. The boy was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board in Tiruvallur and released after receiving a reprimand. A case has been registered under the Railway Act.
