**Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – February 13, 2025** – The Kerala General Education Department has filed a complaint against a YouTuber who allegedly encouraged higher secondary students to skip school in the lead-up to their March examinations. The complaint, lodged with the Pathanamthitta district Superintendent of Police by the Deputy Director of Education, follows a video that reportedly advised students against attending classes.
Education Minister V. Sivankutty, after becoming aware of the video’s content, instructed the Director of General Education (DGE) to take action. The DGE is scheduled to meet the State Police Chief to discuss the matter further. The Minister stressed the importance of adequate attendance for examination eligibility.
The Federation of Higher Secondary Teachers’ Association has also called for legal action against the YouTuber and their channel. The federation alleges the video mocked current education practices and teachers, claiming that teachers misuse continuous evaluation marks and that attendance is ultimately inconsequential to exam eligibility. They believe the video’s impact on higher secondary schools could be long-lasting and demand a strong response. The investigation is ongoing.
