**VISAKHAPATNAM, February 12, 2025** – The Waltair Division of Indian Railways successfully conducted a mock train derailment drill on Tuesday between Jimidipeta and Kuneru stations. The exercise simulated a derailment of train no. 08874, traveling from Sambalpur City to SMV Bengaluru.
The drill tested the preparedness and response of railway staff in handling such emergencies. According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager K. Saandeep, staff and officers reacted swiftly upon receiving the alert, activating control rooms and deploying Accident Relief Trains and Medical Emergency Trains as per protocol. Help desks were also established to provide information to the public. The drill was overseen by Divisional Railway Manager Manoj Kumar Sahoo. The exercise’s success demonstrates the division’s readiness to handle potential train derailments efficiently.
