The program, held on February 10th, saw participation across 681 mandals and 1,691 primary health centers.
The health department reported that all frontline workers, including teachers and anganwadi workers, received comprehensive training before administering the medication. Launched in 2016, the program aims to reduce Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH) infections in children aged 1 to 19, providing a 400mg Albendazole tablet every six months.
No adverse events were reported during the deworming process. A “mop-up day” is scheduled for February 17th to reach the remaining 15.51 lakh children who missed the initial session, aiming for 100% coverage.
