Wed Feb 12 16:49:47 UTC 2025: ## YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Nationwide Backlash After Controversial Remarks

**Mumbai, India –** A major controversy has erupted in India surrounding YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, following his appearance on the YouTube comedy show “India’s Got Latent.” Allahbadia’s remarks, deemed vulgar and offensive by many, have sparked widespread outrage, leading to police investigations and calls for stricter regulations on online content.

The incident occurred during an episode of Samay Raina’s “India’s Got Latent,” a show featuring a panel of judges who critique stand-up comedy acts. Allahbadia’s comments, which targeted parents and sex, triggered a furious backlash on social media and prompted several FIRs. Following the controversy, Raina removed all episodes of “India’s Got Latent” from his YouTube channel, stating that he aimed to create entertainment and would fully cooperate with authorities.

The controversy has attracted the attention of both the public and politicians. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Allahbadia, Raina, and fellow judges Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija, along with the show’s producers, for a hearing on February 17th. Assam Police have also launched an investigation and a team traveled to Mumbai to collect evidence. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has filed a case against 30-40 individuals involved in the show’s production.

Several prominent figures have weighed in on the controversy. Actors Rajpal Yadav and Boney Kapoor, among others, criticized Allahbadia’s remarks, emphasizing the need for responsible content creation and self-censorship. Comedian Vir Das criticized the excessive media coverage of the incident.

The Mumbai Police have recorded statements from Apoorva Makhija and Ashish Chanchlani, who claimed the show was unscripted and encouraged open discussion. While the judges reportedly received no payment for their appearances, they were permitted to share content on their social media platforms. The controversial episode has since been removed from YouTube.

The incident has ignited a debate about freedom of speech, online content moderation, and the accountability of social media influencers. Several politicians have called for stricter regulations and laws to control offensive content on social media and OTT platforms. The ongoing investigations and the NCW hearing are expected to shed more light on the matter and potentially set a precedent for future online content regulation.
