Tue Feb 11 21:23:00 UTC 2025: ## Mahindra Percussion Festival Returns to Bengaluru, Honouring Ustad Zakir Hussain’s Legacy

**Bengaluru, February 12, 2025** – The Mahindra Percussion Festival, in association with The Hindu, is set to return to Bengaluru on March 1st and 2nd at the Prestige Centre for Performing Arts. This year’s third edition will pay tribute to the late Ustad Zakir Hussain, celebrating his contribution to Indian classical music’s global recognition.

The festival boasts a stellar lineup of renowned and emerging percussionists. Day one will feature virtuoso Trilok Gurtu, known for his collaborations with international music legends, alongside Aruna Sairam’s Thrillana Project, a collaborative performance featuring several prominent musicians. Ravi Chary, son of the late Pt. Prabhakar Chary, will present his solo project “Crossing,” previously launched by Ustad Zakir Hussain himself.

Day two will showcase a unique fusion of Indian percussion with a modern twist. Ranjit Barot, in collaboration with theatre director Roysten Abel, will present “BeatRoute,” a musical production blending folk rhythms with electronic music. The festival will conclude with performances by SNAX (a rock/metal fusion group), Ramkumar Kanakarajan (jazz), and Sumesh Narayanan (mridangam).

Jay Shah, vice president of cultural outreach at Mahindra Group, highlighted the festival’s aim to showcase the diversity of percussive instruments and styles. V.G. Jairam, founder of Hyperlink Brand Solutions, emphasized the festival’s role in bridging tradition and innovation, celebrating the universal language of rhythm.
