Mon Feb 10 15:34:37 UTC 2025: ## Kerala High Court Judge Named in Multi-Crore Scam, Casting Shadow on Land Dispute Commission

**Kochi, Kerala – February 10, 2025** – The appointment of former Kerala High Court judge C.N. Ramachandran Nair to head a judicial commission investigating a contentious land dispute is under scrutiny after he was named as an accused in a multi-crore rupee CSR fund scam.

A First Information Report (FIR) filed by Perinthalmanna police on Sunday alleges that Nair, along with K.N. Ananda Kumar and Ananthu Krishnan of the National NGO Confederation, cheated members of the KSS Angadippuram organization out of ₹34 lakh. The commission was appointed by the Kerala state government in November 2024 to resolve a land dispute between Munambam residents and the Kerala Waqf Board.

The Waqf Samrakshana Samithi, which has already challenged Nair’s appointment in the High Court, is demanding his removal from the commission. The organization’s convener, T.A. Mujeeb Rahman, stated that it is inappropriate for someone accused in a major financial scam to lead the inquiry. However, the Kerala Waqf Samrakshana Vedi, another party challenging Nair’s appointment, has distanced itself from the current controversy.

Nair, who suspended the commission’s work two weeks ago following legal challenges, maintains his innocence. He claims the FIR will not impact the commission’s work, which is currently stalled pending the High Court’s decision later this week. He further stated that he severed ties with the implicated organization last year and that police have yet to contact him regarding the case.
