**Mysuru, February 12, 2025** – The Mysuru City Crime Branch (CCB) is investigating a stone-pelting incident outside the Udayagiri police station on Monday night. The incident followed the arrest of an individual for a derogatory social media post. While media reports suggested up to eight arrests related to the stone-pelting and the identification of around 50 individuals involved, CCB officials declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.

The initial incident saw a crowd gather outside the police station demanding the release of the arrested individual. This escalated into stone-throwing, resulting in injuries to police personnel and damage to police vehicles. A separate FIR has been filed regarding the stone-pelting, and the investigation has been handed over to the CCB. The CCB is reviewing social media and CCTV footage as part of its investigation, following instructions from Home Minister G. Parameshwara to apprehend those responsible.

As a precautionary measure, the road leading to the Udayagiri police station remained barricaded on Wednesday, and shops in the area remained closed. Police also conducted a march in the area.

In separate developments, city police held peace meetings with Muslim community leaders across all police stations ahead of Shab E Barat, urging cooperation to ensure peaceful celebrations. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) M. Muthuraj chaired a meeting with senior officials to discuss precautionary measures for the festival.
