**Kozhikode, Kerala –** Five men have been arrested for allegedly killing a wild boar that had fallen into a well and subsequently cooking and distributing its meat among villagers. The incident occurred in Valayam, Kozhikode district, on Sunday, February 9th, 2025.
According to Forest Department sources, E. Binu (43), A.K. Amal (22), Rinu (42), E. Jishnu (21), and Aswin (23) initially contacted the department for assistance in rescuing the approximately 60kg boar. However, they later falsely claimed the animal had been rescued and released.
A subsequent investigation by a special Forest Department squad uncovered cooked boar meat at two of the suspects’ homes. Authorities suspect the men shared the meat with approximately 20 other villagers. All five arrested men are reportedly relatives. The investigation is ongoing.
