Sun Feb 09 19:35:31 UTC 2025: ## AAP Vows Constructive Opposition After Delhi Election Loss

**New Delhi, February 10, 2025** – Following the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, the party held a meeting of its newly elected MLAs on Sunday. Party convener Arvind Kejriwal urged the 22 winning candidates to serve the people and hold the BJP accountable for its election promises. This marks the first time AAP will serve as the opposition in the Delhi Assembly.

Atishi, a winning MLA and outgoing Chief Minister, announced that a legislative party meeting will soon be held to elect the Leader of the Opposition. She stated that AAP will act as a constructive opposition, ensuring the BJP fulfills promises such as providing ₹2,500 monthly to women and 300 units of free electricity, and the continuation of existing AAP welfare schemes.

While accepting the election results, Atishi alleged that the BJP engaged in the widespread distribution of money and liquor during the campaign, with police allegedly ignoring BJP’s “hooliganism.” Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia echoed this sentiment, praising the candidates’ performance despite the alleged misuse of government machinery and illegal campaigning by the BJP.
