**Bengaluru, India** – Global superstar Ed Sheeran’s surprise street performance in Bengaluru took an unexpected turn when local police interrupted his impromptu concert, temporarily halting his performance and unplugging his microphone. However, the singer later clarified on Instagram that the performance was, in fact, pre-approved and part of a planned promotional event for his ongoing “+-=÷x 2025 India Tour.”
Sheeran’s Instagram post explained that the busking event was “planned out before” and that they “had permission.” The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, sparked widespread debate with many criticizing the police’s actions given Sheeran’s compliance with regulations. Some even labelled the incident “embarrassing” for the city.
The four-time Grammy winner performed a second, full concert at the NICE grounds in Bengaluru on Saturday night, following his earlier, albeit briefly interrupted, street performance. His India tour continues with further concerts scheduled for Pune, Shillong, and Delhi NCR. Bengaluru is the only city on the tour with two scheduled performances due to high ticket demand. Sheeran previously performed in Hyderabad alongside Indian singer Armaan Malik.
