**NAGERCOIL, February 10, 2025** – Thousands of devotees participated in the annual car festival of the Shri Boothalingaswamy temple in Boothapandi, Kanniyakumari district on Monday. The highlight of the 10-day festival saw the ornate temple car, one of the heaviest in southern Tamil Nadu, pulled through the village streets by enthusiastic participants.
The procession, featuring the presiding deities Boothalingaswamy, Sivakami Ambal, and Vinayakar, lasted from 9:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., concluding the ninth day of celebrations. The festival, which began on February 2nd with a flag hoisting ceremony, culminates with a “Theppam” event on the tenth day.
The Boothapandi town panchayat ensured smooth proceedings by providing mobile toilets, drinking water, and healthcare facilities for the large gathering of devotees from across the district and nearby villages. Special pujas and abhishekam were performed earlier in the day.
