Sun Feb 09 14:30:07 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka’s T. Narsipur to Host Three-Day Kumbh Mela
**Mysuru, Karnataka (February 9, 2025)** – A three-day Kumbh Mela will begin Monday in T. Narsipur, Karnataka, coinciding with the ongoing event in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The event, now in its 13th edition, is expected to draw large crowds.
The Mela, held every three years, offers a holy dip at the confluence of the Cauvery, Kapila, and the invisible Spathika Sarovara rivers, considered as sacred as the confluence in Prayagraj. The district administration has allocated ₹6 crore for preparations and enhanced security measures. The program includes special rituals, a ‘Gana Homa’, religious gatherings, cultural events, and an ‘aarati’ on the riverbanks. The Kumbha Punya Snana (holy bath) is scheduled for February 12th.
Unlike the larger, 12-year cycle Kumbh Melas in other locations, T. Narsipur’s event, initiated by various seers led by Suttur Mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami, aims to provide an alternative for those unable to attend the main events. The town’s historical significance, including the Gunja Narasimhaswamy temple, adds to the spiritual atmosphere.
