**Puducherry, February 9, 2025** – Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, L. Murugan, today reaffirmed the central government’s commitment to Puducherry’s financial well-being. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Murugan stated that the Centre has consistently met 90% of the Union Territory’s budgetary needs and will continue to do so, dismissing claims of a financial crisis.

He highlighted the allocation of approximately ₹3,432 crore for Puducherry in the 2025-26 Union Budget, including a substantial ₹1,450 crore for Jipmer. Further allocations include ₹186.44 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission and an increase in the Kisan Credit Card loan limit from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh, benefiting 16,000 farmers.

Mr. Murugan also touted the Union Budget as a vision document for India’s next 25 years, emphasizing significant infrastructure development, particularly in Tamil Nadu. He cited the ₹6,626 crore allocated for railway projects in Tamil Nadu in the 2025-26 budget, a considerable increase compared to the ₹800 crore allocated during the UPA government (2009-14).
