**Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, February 9, 2025** – A potential train derailment was averted late Saturday night near the Champa Devi Temple in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, after the alert loco pilot of the Yesvantpur Express spotted large stones placed on the railway tracks.
The vigilant pilot, approaching from Lucknow, noticed the obstruction while the train was already slowing down due to a red signal. This allowed him to apply the emergency brakes in time, preventing a potentially catastrophic accident. Railway officials confirmed that the stones, including one large piece approximately one foot in size, were strategically placed on the bridge’s tracks, within a 450mm gap between the guard and running rails.
Following the incident, railway officials immediately contacted the local police and the Government Railway Police (GRP). An investigation is underway to identify those responsible for placing the stones on the tracks. A complaint has been filed with the local Kotwali police. The timely action of the loco pilot prevented what could have been a major railway accident.
