**Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, February 8, 2025** – Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu launched a crackdown on unauthorized constructions in the city on Saturday. Following a routine inspection of areas including Vikas Nagar, SVN Colony, and Koritapadu, Srinivasulu issued a stern warning to officials, emphasizing that negligence will not be tolerated.

The Commissioner’s action follows a rise in complaints about illegal buildings. He directed planning secretaries and Town Planning and Building Overseers (TPBOs) to significantly increase on-site monitoring, mandating the use of handbooks or diaries to meticulously document their observations. All constructions must adhere to regulations, and residents must be informed about obtaining necessary building plan approvals, Srinivasulu stressed.

Furthermore, the Commissioner ordered that property tax be levied on all constructed buildings, including multi-storey apartments, irrespective of occupancy certificates (OCs) being issued for individual flats. Any under-assessment or failure to assess constructions will result in disciplinary action against the responsible officials. Srinivasulu’s decisive action aims to ensure strict adherence to urban regulations and curb illegal construction within the city limits.
