Sat Feb 08 09:00:28 UTC 2025: **NEET-UG 2025 Exam to be Held on May 4th; Online Applications Open**

HYDERABAD, February 8, 2025 – The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced that the NEET-UG 2025 entrance examination for undergraduate medical courses will be held on May 4th, 2025. Online applications opened on February 7th and will close on March 7th at midnight. Applicants can make corrections to their applications from March 9th to 11th.

Experts predict an even higher number of applicants this year than the 2.4 million who took the NEET-UG 2024 exam. While initially considering an online exam format similar to the JEE Main, following discussions and recommendations from an expert committee chaired by former ISRO chairman K. Kasturirangan, the NTA has decided to conduct the NEET-UG 2025 exam offline using the OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) method. The exam will be held on a single day and in a single shift across the country.

The NEET-UG exam is crucial for admission to MBBS and other medical courses (BAMS, BUMS, BSMS) in medical colleges across India. This year, approximately 108,000 MBBS seats are available nationwide, with around 56,000 in government colleges and 52,000 in private colleges. The intense competition reflects the high number of applicants vying for these limited seats.
