**New Delhi, Feb 8, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to form the next government in Delhi after a resounding victory in Saturday’s assembly elections, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) eight-year rule. With the Election Commission of India (ECI) showing the BJP ahead in 45 of the 70 seats, celebrations erupted at BJP headquarters, while a somber mood settled over the AAP office.

Exit polls had predicted a BJP win, defying AAP’s hopes for a third consecutive term. The BJP secured a vote share of 47.01%, compared to AAP’s 43.16% at the time of reporting.

The election results have sparked a social media frenzy, with an old video of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal resurfacing. In the video, Kejriwal is seen claiming that the BJP could “never” defeat AAP in Delhi. While Kejriwal’s former deputy, Manish Sisodia, maintained a lead in Jangpura, the AAP leader himself was trailing BJP’s Parvesh Verma in the New Delhi constituency. Atishi, the AAP chief minister candidate, also faced a significant deficit against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji.
