**Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh:** Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Awadhesh Prasad caused a stir on Thursday by prematurely declaring his son, Ajeet Prasad, the winner of the Milkipur Assembly by-election, even as BJP candidate Chandra Bhanu Paswan held a significant lead.
While the counting was underway, and with Ajeet Prasad trailing Chandra Bhanu Paswan by a substantial margin of 28,530 votes, Awadhesh Prasad announced his son’s victory, claiming a margin of 35,612 votes. This announcement was met with surprise and disbelief, given the clear discrepancy between Prasad’s claim and the actual vote count at that time. The BJP candidate was significantly ahead throughout the counting process.
The MP’s premature and inaccurate declaration has sparked considerable debate and raised questions about his conduct. The official results are yet to be declared.
