Fri Feb 07 11:15:40 UTC 2025: ## Iran’s Khamenei Rejects US Negotiations, Vows Retaliation

**Tehran, February 7, 2025** – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has firmly rejected any negotiations with the United States, characterizing such talks as “unwise, unintelligent, and dishonorable.” His statement, delivered during a meeting with army commanders on Friday, comes days after US President Donald Trump called for a new verified nuclear agreement with Iran.

Khamenei cited the US’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) as evidence of America’s unreliability. He argued that past concessions made by Iran during negotiations yielded no positive results, emphasizing that the same US administration that negotiated the deal later abandoned it.

The Supreme Leader’s staunch rejection comes as President Trump has reinstated a “maximum pressure” policy against Iran, reimposing sanctions over allegations of Iran pursuing nuclear weapons. Iran maintains its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

Khamenei issued a stark warning, stating that any US threats or actions against Iran will be met with reciprocal measures. “If they threaten us, we will threaten them. If they carry out this threat, we will carry out our threat. If they attack the security of our nation, we will attack their security without hesitation,” he declared. The renewed tensions raise concerns about the future of the already stalled efforts to revive the 2015 nuclear deal.
