Fri Feb 07 13:01:33 UTC 2025: ## Kohli Likely to Return for 2nd ODI Despite Knee Injury

**Cuttack, India:** India secured a convincing four-wicket victory over England in the first ODI at Nagpur on Thursday, thanks to Shubman Gill’s composed half-century (87) and impressive bowling performances from Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya. England, batting first, were bowled out for 248 in 47.4 overs. India chased down the target in 38.4 overs, reaching 251/6 with crucial partnerships between Gill and Shreyas Iyer (59) and Gill and Axar Patel (52).

However, the match was overshadowed by an injury to star batsman Virat Kohli. Kohli was ruled out of the first ODI due to a right knee injury sustained during Wednesday evening’s practice session, as confirmed by captain Rohit Sharma during the toss. While the BCCI officially stated that Kohli was unavailable due to right knee pain, a team insider revealed that the injury is not considered serious. Kohli was seen at the stadium warming up with his teammates, albeit with a knee cap on his right knee.

Despite missing the first game, Kohli is expected to return to the playing XI for the second ODI in Cuttack, according to reports. While the team management will be disappointed to have lost Kohli for the first match, the positive prognosis offers a relief ahead of the series.
