Fri Feb 07 14:37:30 UTC 2025: ## Drug Smuggling Ring Busted: Woman Uses Family Road Trip as Cover

**Hyderabad, February 7, 2025** – A woman and two accomplices were arrested Friday in Hyderabad for allegedly smuggling 14.5 kilograms of marijuana, concealed in their car during what appeared to be a family road trip. The State Task Force (STF) of the Excise and Prohibition Department apprehended the trio at Hayathnagar.

The primary suspect, Sunita Das from Malkangiri, Odisha, confessed to regularly transporting the drug from Odisha to Hyderabad, where it was destined for a contact in Dhoolpet. Her accomplices were identified as Istiya Qureshi and Kankan Sana. The marijuana was expertly hidden in a compartment beneath the rear passenger seat.

Excise Inspector Nagaraju stated that authorities acted on a tip-off to intercept the vehicle and seize the contraband. The vehicle and the suspects’ mobile phones were also confiscated. The investigation is ongoing.
