**COIMBATORE, February 7, 2025** – Sixteen female students from a Bharathiar University hostel in Coimbatore received medical treatment on Thursday after suspected food poisoning. The incident began when one student experienced nausea and was taken to Kalveeranpalayam Primary Health Centre, then transferred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for further treatment before being discharged. Following the discovery of a dead lizard in the lunch served to the students, fifteen more exhibited similar symptoms of nausea. These students received outpatient treatment at the Kalveeranpalayam PHC and were also discharged. Hostel authorities could not be reached for comment.
