Thu Feb 06 14:37:25 UTC 2025: ## Renowned Scientist to Address Visvesvaraya Technological University Convocation
**Belagavi, February 6, 2025** – Eminent space scientist Dr. Tessy Thomas will deliver the convocation address at the second part of Visvesvaraya Technological University’s (VTU) 24th annual convocation on Saturday. The ceremony, held at Jnana Sangama in Belagavi, will award postgraduate and research degrees.
This second part of the convocation is designed to expedite degree conferral, allowing students timely access to international higher education opportunities, according to VTU Vice-Chancellor S. Vidyashankar. The first part, held in July 2024, conferred undergraduate degrees.
This event will see the awarding of numerous postgraduate degrees, including 7,194 MBAs, 3,784 MCAs, 1,313 M.Techs, 83 M.Archs, and 23 M.Plans. A total of 433 research degrees, comprising 425 PhDs and others, will also be conferred. The overall pass percentage for postgraduate courses was 93.44%, with girls achieving a slightly higher rate (94.44%).
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar are expected to attend the ceremony. Dr. Thomas, currently Vice-Chancellor of NICHE, Kanyakumari, brings extensive experience as the former Director-General of Aeronautical Systems and Project Director of the AGNI-4 Missile project at DRDO.
