Thu Feb 06 06:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Indian Minister to Address Parliament Amid Outrage Over Deportation of 104 Citizens

**New Delhi** – External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today following widespread condemnation over the deportation of 104 Indian nationals from the United States. The controversial deportation, which involved a US military aircraft landing in Amritsar on Wednesday, has sparked outrage in India, with the opposition demanding a parliamentary discussion on the matter.

The 104 deportees, who entered the US illegally, included 19 women and 13 minors, among them a four-year-old boy and two girls aged five and seven. The group comprised individuals from several Indian states, with significant numbers from Haryana, Gujarat, and Punjab.

Parliamentary proceedings were briefly suspended today as opposition parties pressed for an immediate debate on the “inhuman and humiliating” manner of the deportation, which is the first such mass deportation under the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration. Minister Jaishankar is expected to address Parliament later today to provide an official statement on the incident.
