Thu Feb 06 00:19:36 IST 2025: ## CPI(M) Idukki Conference Targets Kerala Government and Allies
**Thodupuzha, Kerala –** The CPI(M) Idukki district conference concluded on Thursday with delegates sharply criticizing the Kerala government, the Kerala Congress (M), and the party’s own leadership. The two-day meeting saw widespread condemnation of the state’s Home and Forest departments, along with concerns raised about human-wildlife conflict and land issues.
Delegates voiced strong disapproval of Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran, demanding his resignation despite his earlier offer to step down. The performance of Kerala Congress (M) Minister Roshy Augustine also faced heavy criticism, with accusations that the LDF coalition had not benefitted from the alliance. The party’s poor showing in the recent Idukki Lok Sabha election, where the LDF candidate lost by a significant margin, was also highlighted as a major failure.
Further criticism targeted the state’s handling of human-wildlife conflict, citing a lack of cooperation between the Forest and Revenue departments and the ineffective implementation of the Land Assignment (Amendment) Act. Concerns were also raised about the increasing distance between the CPI(M) and the Catholic Church leadership.
While the conference concluded with a public meeting inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the strong internal criticisms underscore significant challenges facing the ruling LDF coalition in the Idukki district.
