CHENNAI, February 6, 2025 – Senior DMK functionary and Law Minister S. Regupathy today accused AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami of repeatedly making false allegations against the DMK government. Minister Regupathy, in a social media post, stated that Palaniswami consistently levels accusations only to retract them once the truth, often implicating AIADMK members, comes to light.
Regupathy cited several instances, including a recent case of illicit liquor sales in Salem district where an AIADMK functionary and his relative were arrested. He also mentioned allegations regarding a sexual assault in Anna Nagar, harassment of women on the East Coast Road, and other incidents, claiming that AIADMK members were involved in each case.
The Minister criticized Palaniswami for using his position as Leader of the Opposition to engage in what he called “cheap politics,” urging him to act responsibly and focus on constructive engagement instead of making misleading statements. He questioned whether Palaniswami’s actions are a deliberate attempt to deflect attention from his party’s involvement in various crimes.
