**New Delhi, Feb 7, 2025** – Delhi concluded its Assembly elections yesterday with a voter turnout of 60.10%, slightly lower than the 2020 turnout of 62.59%. While the official counting of votes begins at 8 a.m. on February 8th, several exit polls are already predicting a significant win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Seven exit polls, including DV Research, Chanakya Strategies, and JVC, forecast a BJP victory ranging from 35 to 60 seats out of 70. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), currently in power, is projected to win between 30 and 37 seats according to these surveys. The Indian National Congress, which failed to win any seats in the previous two elections, hopes for improved results this time.
The BJP campaigned heavily on corruption allegations against the AAP, while the AAP focused on a door-to-door campaign strategy that proved successful in past elections. A total of 699 candidates contested the election.
However, the AAP has vehemently rejected the exit poll predictions. Party leader Sushil Gupta dismissed the surveys as inaccurate, expressing confidence in an AAP victory and government formation. Arvind Kejriwal himself stated that the AAP’s work for the people of Delhi will result in a favorable outcome. The official results will be announced by the Election Commission of India on Saturday evening and can be tracked on eci.gov.in and results.eci.gov.in.
