Thu Feb 06 11:05:40 UTC 2025: ## Ten Thousand Aid Trucks Enter Gaza Since Ceasefire

**Geneva, February 6, 2025** – Over 10,000 aid trucks have delivered vital supplies to Gaza since a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect on January 19th, according to UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher. This represents a massive surge in aid delivery following months of conflict.

Fletcher announced the milestone on X (formerly Twitter), stating that he was personally entering northern Gaza with a further aid convoy. He expressed gratitude to those facilitating the delivery of food, medicine, and tents.

The influx of aid follows a devastating conflict that began with a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of 1,210 Israelis (mostly civilians), according to AFP. Israel’s subsequent response caused at least 47,518 fatalities in Gaza, the majority civilian, as reported by the Hamas-run Health Ministry—figures deemed reliable by the UN.

Prior to the ceasefire, a severe humanitarian crisis gripped Gaza, with widespread hunger and the threat of famine. The truce has allowed a significant increase in the flow of food, fuel, and medical supplies, and has enabled displaced people to return to northern Gaza.

Negotiations for the second phase of the 42-day ceasefire are underway. To date, 18 hostages have been released in exchange for approximately 600 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
