**MEMPHIS, Tenn. (February 6, 2025)** – A 27-year-old man is recovering after a violent attack at TJ Mulligan’s bar in Midtown Memphis on Sunday evening. The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation, told FOX13 he was beaten and shot following a verbal altercation with a bar employee.
The incident began in the restroom, where the employee allegedly became verbally aggressive. The altercation escalated in the bar area, involving the employee and another individual who joined the assault. The victim was punched repeatedly before being shot in the leg.
The victim’s mother stated that a security guard detained her son, not the shooter, who fled the scene before police arrived. Initially considered a suspect, the victim was later released by police. The mother expressed outrage at the handling of the situation, questioning why her son was handcuffed while the shooter was not. TJ Mulligan’s has a “no weapons” policy posted at the entrance.
