Thu Feb 06 08:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Yashasvi Jaiswal Makes ODI Debut as India Faces England in Nagpur

**Nagpur, India:** Yashasvi Jaiswal has been handed his One Day International (ODI) debut for India in the first match of their series against England, replacing the injured Virat Kohli. The match, played in Nagpur on February 19th, marks the final ODI series between the two nations before the Champions Trophy. This is also the ODI debut for Harshit Rana.

England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision that didn’t concern India captain Rohit Sharma, who revealed he would have chosen to bowl first had he won the toss. Pitch reports suggest a high-scoring match is on the cards, with the Nagpur pitch expected to favor batsmen, further aided by the anticipated evening dew.

Kohli’s absence is due to a knee injury sustained the previous evening. In contrast, England announced their playing XI a day earlier, notably featuring the return of Joe Root to their ODI team. Root will provide a solid presence in the middle order and bolster their bowling attack with his off-spin.

Jaiswal, already capped in 19 Test matches and 23 T20 Internationals, and Rana, with 2 Tests and a T20 International under his belt (including a concussion substitute appearance against England), are set to make their ODI debuts.
