Thu Feb 06 16:58:25 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka High Court Upholds Discharge of Police Sub-Inspector in IMA Case
**Bengaluru, February 6, 2025** – The Karnataka High Court has dismissed a CBI appeal and upheld the discharge of a sub-inspector of police, Gowrishankar, in a criminal case linked to the I-Monetary Advisory (IMA) Group scam. The CBI had accused Gowrishankar of accepting bribes from IMA founder Mohammed Mansoor Khan.
Justice M. Nagaprasanna affirmed the trial court’s July 15, 2024, decision, stating it was legally sound. The trial court found insufficient evidence to establish Gowrishankar’s guilt, noting that a search of his premises yielded no incriminating evidence beyond a single ambiguous diary entry. The High Court agreed, concluding that the evidence presented by the CBI was insufficient to warrant prosecution. Gowrishankar, accused number 28 in the CBI’s supplementary charge sheet, was alleged to have received bribes through an intermediary named Waseem in exchange for overlooking complaints against the IMA group.
