Dhaka, Bangladesh – February 6, 2025 – Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina delivered a strongly worded condemnation from exile in India following the demolition of the historic Dhanmondi residence of her father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country’s founding president. The Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs lodged a strong protest with India over Hasina’s speech, expressing concern that her statements were hurting the sentiments of the Bangladeshi people. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has yet to comment on the demolition or Hasina’s accusations. The incident marks a significant escalation in the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh.
