Thu Feb 06 12:20:14 UTC 2025: ## Alappuzha-Changanassery Road Reconstruction Nears Completion

**Alappuzha, Kerala, February 6, 2025** – The reconstruction of the Alappuzha-Changanassery (AC) Road is in its final stages, with completion expected within three to four months, according to the Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP). The ₹671.66 crore project, initially slated for completion in 2023, has faced delays primarily due to approvals for the Pallathuruthy bridge. The revised budget is now estimated at ₹880.72 crore.

The extensive project, part of the Rebuild Kerala Initiative, encompasses four major bridges, five semi-elevated flyovers, 14 minor bridges, three causeways, and 64 culverts. While most structures, including the Kidangara, Nedumudi, and Muttar bridges, are substantially complete, work on the Pallathuruthy bridge is approximately 60% finished. Five flyovers are already open to traffic, and road surfacing is nearly complete.

The 24.14-km, two-lane road, featuring footpaths and a 13-meter width, is being constructed by a joint venture between Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society and Evrascon. The project aims to prevent monsoon flooding along this crucial roadway.
