Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a debate on the President’s Address, Modi contrasted the central government’s focus on providing basic necessities like water to every home with alleged extravagant spending by Kejriwal on renovations to his official residence.
The Prime Minister’s remarks alluded to a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that criticized over ₹33 crore in spending on the Chief Minister’s residence. The report highlighted allegedly lavish purchases including an ₹28.9 lakh 88-inch 8K OLED TV, steam ovens costing ₹6.5 lakh, and a jacuzzi, sauna, and spa totaling ₹19.5 lakh.
