Tue Feb 04 17:22:00 UTC 2025: ## Modi Targets Kejriwal Amidst Delhi Election Eve Budget Session

**New Delhi, India** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, just one day before crucial Delhi assembly elections. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a debate on the President’s Address, Modi contrasted the central government’s focus on providing basic necessities like water to every home with alleged extravagant spending by Kejriwal on renovations to his official residence.

The Prime Minister’s remarks alluded to a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that criticized over ₹33 crore in spending on the Chief Minister’s residence. The report highlighted allegedly lavish purchases including an ₹28.9 lakh 88-inch 8K OLED TV, steam ovens costing ₹6.5 lakh, and a jacuzzi, sauna, and spa totaling ₹19.5 lakh. Kejriwal has denied the allegations.

The exchange occurred on the fourth day of the ongoing Budget Session, which began January 31st with the presentation of the Union Budget by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The first part of the session concludes February 13th, with the second part resuming March 10th and concluding April 4th. The timing of Modi’s criticism, so close to the Delhi elections, is seen as a significant political maneuver.
