Tue Feb 04 20:00:00 UTC 2025: ## MICT Cruises to SA20 Final After Dominant Victory Over Paarl Royals

**Cape Town, South Africa** – MICT (Maritzburg Heat) continued their fairytale run in the SA20, securing a convincing 39-run victory over the Paarl Royals in Qualifier 1 and booking their place in the final. The wooden-spooners of the previous two editions have become the first team to reach the final in this year’s tournament.

MICT’s relentless performance saw them post a challenging 199 runs, fueled by numerous contributions throughout the batting order. Their bowlers then proved equally effective, keeping Paarl at bay and preventing any serious threat. David Miller, Paarl’s captain, opted to field first, a decision that ultimately backfired.

Despite a valiant effort from Miller himself, and some early boundaries from Pretorius, Paarl’s chase never truly took off. The wickets tumbled regularly after Pretorius’ dismissal, leaving them needing 48 runs from the final six balls, a task that proved insurmountable. Kwena Maphaka faced a barrage of dots from Kagiso Rabada before Fortuin’s late flurry of boundaries was too little, too late. The final wicket fell to Corbin Bosch, leaving MICT celebrating a resounding victory and their sixth consecutive win.

Rashid Khan, MICT’s star spinner, expressed his delight, highlighting the team’s improved performance and the pressure they’ve handled throughout the tournament. He praised the opening partnership of Rickelton and Rassie for providing a solid foundation. Delano Potgieter, named Player of the Match, lauded his team’s bowling attack and the strong batting at the top of the order.

Paarl Royals will now face another qualifier to determine the opponent for MICT in the final. The match will be played between the remaining teams.
