Wed Feb 05 01:06:55 IST 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Police Host Hackathon to Combat Cybercrime

**Chennai, February 5, 2025** – A two-day hackathon aimed at leveraging technology to fight cybercrime kicked off Tuesday at the Tamil Nadu Police Headquarters. Organized by the Cyber Crime Wing, the event challenges participants to develop solutions for five key policing problems: Intelligent Surveillance for the Dark Web, Deanonymizing Tor Mail, VoIP Call Interception and Analysis, and Social Media Targeted Advertisement Identification and Analysis for Cyber Scams.

Over 315 initial submissions were received, with 54 teams selected for the second round based on criteria including feasibility, usability, and scalability. A panel of judges from IIT-Madras and ELCOT reviewed the proposals. Fifteen teams will advance to the final round, judged on alignment with police needs, technical innovation, and design durability. The top three teams will receive trophies, cash prizes, and certificates, while the remaining twelve finalists will receive consolation prizes.
