**New Delhi, February 5:** Delhi witnessed a steady stream of voters at polling booths as voting commenced for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections at 7:00 AM today. Initial figures released by the Election Commission of India at 9:00 AM show an average voter turnout of 8.10% across all 70 constituencies. Turnout varied across districts, with Northeast Delhi recording the highest at 10.70%, while Central Delhi reported the lowest at 6.67%. Other districts reported turnouts ranging from 6.51% (New Delhi) to 9.34% (Southwest Delhi).

A total of 1.56 crore voters, including 83.76 lakh men, 72.36 lakh women, and 1267 third gender voters, are eligible to cast their ballots across 13,766 polling stations. Special arrangements were made for senior citizens and differently-abled voters, with home voting completed prior to election day, resulting in 6980 out of 7553 eligible voters casting their votes.

The elections will decide the fate of 699 candidates contesting across the 70 assembly seats. Counting of votes will take place on February 8th. The Election Commission, along with leaders from the BJP, Congress, and AAP, urged eligible voters to exercise their franchise and prioritize voting before any other activity.
